So many Hemingways in so little space, is it possible? Forget probable.

odd jobs
I think today marks the end of my week of being shut up in my room. I'm feeling pretty okay, and I've certainly had enough time to myself. Salinger is finished and I've moved on to a short stack of Hardy (if only he were as light and fluffy as a short stack). I've completed two rough stories and one poem. I'm off to campus tomorrow to start my graduate essay on After Lorca. Odd week ahead, full of old ghosts and friends, coffee and midnight get-togethers.
On a more disappointing and indirect note, people become terribly petty when they're angry, most often passively so, as if to distract themselves from resolution.

women and children first
i have not done much of anything these past few days other than multiply words like rabbits.
i've had some great moments of solidified and assured friendship this week that have been extremely heartening and helpful. some enlightening conversations with sterling have proved that there are patterns to every relationship, and gives me more confidence in my decision.
on a sadder note, matt has had another blow. his dad is really sick in the hospital and i'm worried as much for his health as i am for matt's state of mind. he's really had a rough week and i hope he walks away from this stronger and not beaten down.
i feel like there's something else i should be including here. on a smaller random note, i'm hopelessly in love with salinger and have already devoured three of his books. the narration is cynically stylistic and witty; the glass family is hilarious.

we couldn't bring the columns down
some flaws cannot be overlooked, more so in light of longevity.
better now than then does not make it any less unpleasant.
